YOUR CARE TEAM

Every specialist. One team.

A full multidisciplinary team under one roof. Occupational therapists, psychologists, paediatricians and psychiatrists working together on your goals. No referrals between providers, no fragmented care, no waiting months for the next specialist to have an opening.

Psychologists

Paediatricians

Referral and medical-review partners for children when OT support benefits from paediatric input for example, when a child’s motor delays or sensory processing difficulties may warrant further medical investigation.

Psychiatrists

Referral partners for adults when medical review, prescribing or diagnostic input is needed alongside OT, particularly for adults managing ADHD medication alongside executive function coaching.

Allied Health

Communication, language and social interaction support that complements OT, especially for children with co-occurring speech and motor delays, or autistic individuals working on pragmatic language alongside sensory regulation.

WHAT OT CAN HELP WITH

The everyday things OT untangles.

If executive function, sensory overwhelm, driving concerns, workplace strain or day-to-day admin has become unsustainable, occupational therapy gives you practical, personalised strategies that fit your life. Not a generic worksheet, a plan built around your specific challenges, goals and environment.
  • Children
  • Fine and gross motor skills (handwriting, dressing, sport)
  • Sensory processing and self-regulation
  • Teens
  • Executive function and school demands
  • Emotional regulation and transition-to-adulthood skills
  • Adults
  • Driving assessments, NDIS support, workplace adjustments
  • Executive function, sensory regulation, sustainable routines

Kids (Ages 4–12)

Motor skills, sensory play and school readiness.

Handwriting, dressing, sport and self-care skills. Sensory strategies for busy classrooms. Support for school readiness and play-based learning. Our paediatric OTs make sessions engaging and fun while building skills that transfer to everyday life.

Teens (Ages 13–17)

Executive function and emotional regulation.

Planning, deadlines and follow-through. Sensory and emotional regulation for demanding weeks. Skills for independence, part-time work and life beyond school. We work with teenagers as partners in their own development, respecting their autonomy while providing the scaffolding they need.

Adults (Ages 18+)

NDIS, workplace and ADHD/ASD adult OT.

NDIS Functional Capacity Assessments, workplace accommodations, sensory regulation planning, and occupational therapy for adult ADHD and autism. Whether you’ve been recently diagnosed or have managed for years without formal support, our OTs help you build systems that work with your brain, not against it.

OT driving assessment.

On-road and off-road driving assessment.

Our occupational therapists conduct comprehensive driving assessments for adults with medical, cognitive or age-related concerns that may affect driving safety. The assessment includes both an off-road component (cognitive screening, reaction time, visual processing) and an on-road practical driving evaluation.
Questions

What families & adults actually ask.

Have a question that isn’t here? Submit an enquiry below.

We provide occupational therapy for children from age 4, teenagers (13–17), and adults 18 and over. Our OTs adapt their clinical approach depending on who’s in the room, play-based for younger children, coaching-oriented for teenagers and adults. Whether it’s a prep student working on pencil grip or a 40-year-old navigating a new ADHD diagnosis, we tailor everything to the individual.
It’s a free 15-minute conversation with our intake team. We’ll answer your questions, explain the right OT pathway (paediatric, teen or adult, including driving, NDIS, ADHD, autism or workplace), and walk through funding options. There’s no commitment and no clinical assessment during this call. If Nexia isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you honestly and suggest alternatives.
Yes, for participants of any age. We deliver NDIS Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs), Assistive Technology assessments, and Capacity Building sessions. Both self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants can book directly. If you’re agency-managed, contact us and we’ll guide you through the process.
Yes. Our OT driving assessment includes an off-road cognitive and physical component plus an on-road driving evaluation. Reports are supplied for VicRoads, licensing authorities, insurance providers and specialist referrals. Driving assessments are conducted in-person at our East Melbourne clinic. A GP or specialist referral may be required depending on your state, we’ll clarify during your discovery call.
Bring any relevant medical history, previous reports (school reports for children; psychology, neuropsych or psychiatric reports for teens and adults), your current NDIS plan if applicable, and a clear picture of the challenges you’d like addressed. For children, teacher questionnaires or school observations are helpful. The more context we have upfront, the more targeted and efficient your assessment will be.
No, you can self-refer for private OT sessions at any age. You don’t need a GP referral, a diagnosis, or any prior assessment. NDIS-funded sessions require an active NDIS plan. Some driving assessments may need a GP or specialist referral depending on your licensing authority; we’ll walk you through what’s needed on your discovery call.
Sessions run 45–60 minutes, scheduled weekly or fortnightly depending on your goals. For children, sessions are play-based and active, we use games, movement and hands-on tasks. For teenagers and adults, sessions are more coaching-oriented, collaborative goal-setting, strategy development, and practical between-session tasks so progress happens in your real life, not just in the consulting room.
Executive function coaching, sensory regulation planning, NDIS support, daily living strategies and report writing can all be delivered securely via video. Our telehealth OT sessions use a secure clinical video platform and are available to clients anywhere in Australia. In-person attendance is required for driving assessments and some hands-on paediatric work (e.g., detailed motor assessments). During your discovery call, we’ll advise which format suits your goals.
Session fees vary depending on the type of service (standard therapy, assessment, driving assessment, NDIS FCA). We’re transparent about fees during your discovery call before any commitment. NDIS-funded sessions are billed at NDIS price guide rates. For private-paying clients, we can provide a fee schedule on request. Some private health funds offer rebates for OT under extras cover, check with your provider.
Physiotherapy focuses primarily on physical rehabilitation, strength, mobility, pain management and injury recovery. Occupational therapy focuses on enabling participation in everyday activities, which might involve motor skills, but also sensory processing, executive function, self-care, driving, workplace accommodations and daily living routines. For neurodivergent individuals (ADHD, autism), OT is often the more relevant discipline because it addresses how your brain interacts with daily demands, not just your body.
Yes. All OT assessments at Nexia Healthcare include a comprehensive written report. Reports are tailored to the audience, whether that’s a school requesting classroom accommodations, an employer implementing reasonable adjustments, a GP needing a clinical summary, or the NDIS requiring evidence for a plan review or access request. Report turnaround is typically 2–3 weeks following assessment completion.
